Social Responsibilities
• Desert & Delta have developed training programmes that has produced numerous leaders from local community who are employed in management positions throughout company.
• With over 400 citizen staff the company has over time impacted on the Botswana tourism industry as a trusted and quality driven lodge operator. Chobe Game Lodge employs over 100 citizen staff.
• Desert & Delta Safaris is a wholly owned subsidiary of Chobe Holdings Limited, a tourism enterprise listed on the Botswana Stock Exchange that has allowed for broad-based citizen shareholding with over 1,500 mostly citizen shareholders.
• Desert & Delta Safaris’ locally based procurement programme purchases from local companies or alternatively from local distributers wherever possible.
• Desert & Delta Safaris has developed HIV/AIDS wellness programme, with specific outreach to our staff, their families and the communities within the areas that we operate in, which in turn has been acknowledged and commended by the International Labour Organisation as leaders of our industry in this field.
• Number of group’s properties offer cultural visits.
• Chobe Game Lodge sponsors the Metlha Ya Bofelo Foundation a nonprofit organization committed to providing care and support to orphans and vulnerable children. The lodge has worked with the local community in developing a self supporting marimba band that plays on occasion. The band has been assisted with CD production to increase their reach. The lodge sponsors a local football team ‘Chobe United’.
• Understanding the requirements of changing customer demand, Desert & Delta Safaris have developed family friendly policies for visits to the company’s properties.
• Chobe Game Lodge is wheelchair friendly and we are currently investigation small changes to increase access to additional properties.
