Chobe Game Lodge takes all aspects of guest comfort very seriously and has recently been looking at additional ways to improve our guests’ experience. That’s why Chobe Game Lodge is the only safari operator in Chobe National Park to have introduced new weather proofed and sky roofed game viewers.

Environment: Chobe Game Lodge

Our new closed STP (sewerage treatment plant) is up and running – it was fired up on Monday 20th June and this morning at 8am the clock was standing on 384,000 litres of processed grey water, so we have been averaging 38,400 litres per day – it is quite amazing to see and smell the processed water, clear and smelling of ozone (bleach).

In memory of Elizabeth Taylor

Desert & Delta Safaris has always felt a special affinity with Liz Taylor since she first visited Chobe Game Lodge in the 1970s. It began with the global event that was her second marriage to hellraiser Richard Burton, and was cemented with her tireless campaigning for AIDS awareness, a subject which is very close to our hearts.

Roan and Sable

We were back in business again this past month with a very busy August. Temperatures started rising later in the month as we were going into spring time, with midday temperatures reaching close to 30 degrees Celsius. Taylor & Burton, second time around

Liz Taylor & Richard Burton's Wedding Licence

Whilst every romantic event at Chobe National Park is special, one particular wedding rocked the world back in 1975: Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton married for the second time.

The legend of Pop Lamont

Pop Lamont's Old House

Guests on game drives at Chobe National Park are often shown the remains of houses on the riverfront at Serondella. But what they aren’t often told is the fascinating tale of one of the men who used to inhabit these houses: Pop Lamont.

Chobe: environmental news

The Chobe’s levels receded rather fast after the exceptional flooding season we’ve had during our late summer months. Most of the floodplains that were inundated during the last 3 months dried out again, and we once again had access to the roads that were also inaccessible for months due to the high flood levels.

Chobe Environmental News

Chobe has received more than 260mm of rain during December – almost half of our annual average. The heaviest showers fell on the 22nd when we had a total of 97mm for the day. The Chobe River has also started pushing up its levels and we are anticipating another year of exceptional flood waters as it seems to be raining quite heavily in the Chobe’s catchment areas.
