The Happy Hippos of the Boteti River

One of the regular game drive routes that guests at Leroo La Tau enjoy passes Hippo Pools on the Boteti River. What seems like an everyday game viewing is actually quite incredible when you understand the history of these particular creatures, and how the indecisive nature of Botswana’s rivers almost led to their demise.

The Makgadikgadi Game Reserve is home to the world’s second largest zebra migration and James’ vital research helps contributes to the conservation of one of the world’s most distinctive animals.

Khumaga is a small village just a few kilometres from Leroo La Tau, and our team at the lodge frequently invite pupils at Khumaga Primary School to come and experience what Desert & Delta Safaris has to offer the community.
